The Dire Cafe

Let Me Tell You About My Paladin

My dear sweet youngest sister was kind enough to remind me that If I live as long as my paternal grandfather, my life is now officially half-over *sigh* (kid sisters can be such a pain)

In honor of my 20-something baby sister I do hereby post my Bucket List:

Before I die I will:

Go see a NASCAR race in person
Go see Star Trek the Experience in Vegas
Vacation somewhere other than the North American continent
Bounce grandchildren on my knee (note my oldest is still a teen this one I hope to wait at leat 5 years for)
Actually travel further west than Denver
Visit all 50 states
Pop in unexpectedly on Berin (My liege your humble Paladin is at your service)
Own a car that still has a warranty attached

So, are you saying that a "Happy Birthday" greeting is in order?

Reply to This

It's a subtle way of saying he wants birthday presents, specifically plane tickets.

Wasn't necessarily trying for the birthday greeting a/o presents. Just that the bucket list wouldn't make much sense without the backstory. And yes I did hit 41 on Wednesday

......waiting for it......

....waiting.....

.....still waiting....

41 what? Had to say it before 'Angel

My sense of humor's way too sophisticated for that. *cough*

Many happy returns of the day! :)

Many happy returns of the day. I am honored to be on your list. I am so not worthy.

A bucket list isn't something I've ever thought about, but my wife has recently started writing out her short-term goals (as in, the next 18 months) and carrying them around with her. Not a bad idea. Keeps you focused. I'm going to put together a list of things I want to do "someday" (no time frame) and write it on the white board here in the den. A rough list goes like this:

* Have games I've written in print.
* Meet all the Dire Paladins face to face.
* Take my wife back to where I grew up and show her around
* Landscape my back yard so it looks like a particular local resort

Thou spake,
"Landscape my back yard so it looks like a particular local resort"

I thought you lived in Arizona, not Wales, though I understand Portmeirion is lovely this time of year.

And thus,
"Meet all the Dire Paladins face to face"

Did you ever think that, by not showing ourselves in public, we are really doing you a favour? If we fit even half of the stereotypes of gaming dorks & internet nerds, then we are a right homely bunch. (Though I personally maintain that it is the pylon I am standing next to in my avatar picture that makes me look fat.)

remember that Arizona is an extremely popular vacation destination. Scottsdale is thought of as mini LA. Sedona has some very pricey resorts and packages. Canyon Ranch has been a spa getaway for mostly women with cash for a couple of decades.

personally I like a bit more vegetation and water. but then its also nice not to have to deal with the three inches of pollen that build up over night.

and if your stove ever breaks? just go outside and fry your morning eggs and bacon up on the sidewalk. (actually did fry an egg on asphalt once, just to see if it would work.)

"A particular local resort" means the defunct minigolf place, right?

I now have the mental image of cacti & palm trees, Magic Carpet tiki statuary, & bouncing Rover balls, all in miniature so that it fits into a back yard.

Yes.

Add the 'group pose' statues of dead superheroes, & you are all set.
