I was listening to the radio this morning and learned that Burger King was offering a free Whopper to anyone who would be willing to 'de-friend' 10 people from their Facebook friend list.
It has since been disabled, but not before 233,906 virtual human sacrifices have been committed.
Brilliant. I'd love to run some sort of Delta Green adventure (likely as a sequel to The Night Floors) in which our heroes must deal with the surreal horror that is the King in Yellow selling hamburgers...
Roleplay? The fearsome reality is enough for my shattered sanity, thanks.
This thing has the air of a particular Twilight Zone episode inspired by Richard Matheson: the one where you push the button and you get a pile of money, but the price is that somebody dies whom you don't know.
It might be easier to emotionally cope with a Delta Green adventure than the actual BK video game--Sneak King--where you stalk hungry people like you're Richard Simmons or something. I think Burger King has the best ad campaigns, but they sometimes venture toward unspeakable madness.
Matheson would make an awesome Midian GM. Much of his work is the sort of thing that I strive to make the game system support. I think he'd feel right at home in the setting. He'd be an awesome GM for any system, for that matter.
