I expected a Patrick Stewart TNG-Excalibur mash up. But this is better!

Maybe they sell "milkshakes".

I have been toying with board-game-izing Midian on and off again for a while now, so I can understand the itch. Having fun with your mates is indeed the whole point of all this.

A while back, I was commiserating with one of the other denizens around here about how the daily grind can get pretty tiresome. The Dire King provided some sage words of advice, of which, I'm paraphrasing. "Have something fun to look forward to at...

I read the first book and made good progress, the setting seemed to me like an odd cross of weird fiction and wu xia. After two or three short reading sessions, I am about a quarter of the way into the second book but it is failing to keep my atte...

Damn. This is awfully tempting and I could get some decent prices for the flight. But... gotta keep on budget and on plan. Maybe next year. Thanks for the invite and the heads up.

Excellent. I can't promise I can play (I'm trying to find the energy and inspiration to run a Day After Ragnarok game on maptools) but I'll definitely lurk and cheer on the crew.

Everyone knows the chupacabra has wings and deathray eyes that continue to turn people to stone even after death. The image on the logo is totally a basking shark. I have always wondered why some scientists can look at part of a 400 million year...

Rule Zero, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Board Game

A while back, I was commiserating with one of the other denizens around here about how the daily grind can get pretty tiresome. The Dire King provided some sage words of advice, of which, I'm paraphrasing. "Have something fun to look forward to at the end of the day. That's why Friday's are great since most people have something fun to look forward to during the evening or weekend."

Now I've applied this pearl of wisdom to ward off the enervating effects of working at the salt mines. I get to d… Continue

The Blackfyre Rebellion Revisited

Now that Green Ronin's A Song of Ice and Fire is out on PDF version at the Green Ronin store, I'm getting all psyched up to gamemaster that noble house game I've always wanted to run. The players will be family members and retainers of an up and coming minor noble house, either with ambitions of elevation to Great House status or as a major player in one of the factions.

Nothing is cast in stone as yet but I've p… Continue

The Creative Madness Never Ends

I'm in a regular 4E game but I'm feeling the itch to DM. So here I go again going about World Building but this time it's going to be for a campaign that I'll actually run... :)

Watch this space.

More MapTool - And for my next trick...

Someone stop me! Encouraged by the success of my earlier forays into online Gamemastering, I can't stop myself from unleashing more Savage Worlds goodness into the interwebs. While our small band continues with the Modern Day Monster mash, another game that really has me fired up is: Starlords of Hadrapur!

This will be a Sword and Planet mini-series in the tradition of John Carter of Mars (who doesn't want a little… Continue

Steel & Spellcraft - Utum

"Steel & Spellcraft" is an irregular series of blog posts featuring a heroic fantasy setting on the planet Mars far into the distant future. Today, I present to you: The rising power in the West, Utum!

UTUM
*Atop a colossal ziggurat, the Maharajah of Utum commands the loyalty of the world's most populous nation... of living and undead!
* The Maharajah sponsors expeditions into ruins and far off lands to procure wealth and recover items of power and ancient secrets. In o… Continue
