To every thing there is a season...

It has been my observation that the natural lifespan of a RPG campaign is about 6-12 months. Almost all the ones I have run (and most I have played in) have either closed down in that time, or quickly hit a point where it becomes clear that they should have.

Part of it (for the ones I run, anyhow) is GM burnout. After six months or a year, my creative well runs dry and I need to move on to another project for a while.
