With the gracious permission of the Dire King Hissownself. I hope to make this a weekly feature, to keep me posting to my LJ account on a more regular basis.

Before anyone rises up to correct me, I KNOW that Let Me Tell You About My Paladin Day isn't util early July.
That said, I just finished posting the last of my 'Paladins,' or characters I either have played, am playing now, am about to play, or want to play.

I went ahead and added a new LJ post entitled "Let Me Tell You About Some of My Other Paladins."
I went through some of the memos on PDA where I had jotted down notes for character's that I have run, am currently running or really, really want to run.
There will be more, so keep a look out for them!
And yes, I know that I am WAYYYYYY early for LMTYAMPD. Continue
I know that LMTYAMP Day is still some months away, but as I am uncertain about my appointment status, at least until Thursday (I may be in transition to a new appointment at that point), I thought I'd go ahead an post my offering to this years effort.
The post can be found here, in an attempt to share the entry with more potential readers.
Brother Clary has survived one pulpy Call of Cthulhu-variant PbP adventure and is about 3/4 of the… Continue
I just posted a new entry that while I think others here would appreciate it, I didn't feel it would be appropriate here.

I really do try to avoid politics here, but given the current state of things with the newest AIG scandal, this one made me laugh:
From the 1940 Bob Hope vehicle, "The Ghost Breakers." Continue
Berin "Uncle Bear" Kinsman, proprietor of the Dire Cafe and King of the Dire Paladins, suggested I take a look at an article in Mental Floss on how several Confederate veterans of the Civil War had fled to South America, even setting up colonies there to plan a glorious return when the South would rise again. He thought it would make cool fodder for my notes on Ranger Company X. I read and wholeheartedly agreed. I thought it fit beautifully with two other separate incidents I had in my notes, an… Continue
Ranger Company X oath:
I, (name) do Solemnly Swear that I will bear true allegiance to the Republic (State) of Texas, and that I will serve her honestly and faithfully against all her enemies or opposers whatsoever, be they natural or unnatural, and observe & obey the orders of the President (Governor) of the Republic (State), and the orders of the Officers appointed over me.
This is based on an actual oath on record from 1874. Continue
As has been my practice, I have cross-posted my Company X thoughts to my LiveJournal. Yesterday, One of my long-time LJ acquaintances suggested 'Ghost Riders in the Sky' as more possible musical influences.
I couldn't believe that I had forgotten that one, but that oversight was quickly amended.
I also went looking for other musical pieces that could be used and discovered this site which hosts (apparently legal) mp3 downloads of Lucasarts game mu… Continue
I have decided that 'Apache' written by Jerry Lordan will be the theme for Rager Company X.
The only question is, which version? I'm personally leaning toward the version by the Incredible Bongo Band.
Here's a playlist. Let me know what you think. Continue
OK, so there's some interest in me writing this up for submission as a monograph at Chaosium. I asked for a 'writer's guide,' and received this link.
I'm looking at the third option, that of a source book. It will need to be about 48 pages (including art), with a minimum word count of about 30,000.
So, given the basics of what is required, I'm looking for suggestions on how to start. I've got a bare-bones outline for what… Continue
A few more snippets of notes:
In order to maintain a level of secrecy, there are never more than ten Rangers (including the Company Commander) in Company X, and most of the time it is under seven.
Edwina "Eddie" Parmenter Hickey was the first female Ranger. While disguised as a man, she was recruited for her marksmanship and riding ability. Her disguise was exposed by a vampire Company X was hunting. After the incident, Ranger Hickey was able to maintain her status as a full-fledged Ranger. Ho… Continue
Ranger Company X - Background Information
Ranger Company X was established by President Sam Houston soon after Texas wrested its independence from Mexico. It was established as a small company of Rangers (no more than 10) to investigate and protect the fledgling Republic from threats outside of the routine. This company, although ostensibly under the aegis of the Rangers' command structure, reports directly to the President (later, Governor). In fact most Rangers (except for the Senior Captain… Continue
