Let Me Tell You About My Paladin

My gf just got turned down for a job that would have given us free rent and utilities... because she is over qualified.

you dont turn away someone who is over qualified for a job that is only intended for one year anyway. what are they going to do? do too good of a job for you to handle?

blah.

It's supposed to be a nice way of saying that they are going to hire their nephew.

Or that the "overqualified" person will leave the job because they are bored/using it as a stepping stone.

The money was a set stipend that was very low. But saving us 1200 a month on rent plus utilities would sure have made things easier. Oh well. Guess I'm still living in paradise.

the thing that really burns me up is that i have a strong suspicion that they just did the interviewing process to appease her and never had an intention of considering her.

Yeah, it's not like there are any current circumstances that could make someone settle for a position they're overqualified for... Sour grapes says they sound too stupid to work for anyway.

No, it's the assumption that the "overqualified" person will demand to much money.
