About Me:
RPG's are my choice of escape from reality. I began at the age of 12 with AD&D 2nd Edition. That was a magic moment for me, I loved RPG's. Unfortunately, disapproving parents would steal the hobby away from me until my junior year of university, when I purchased D&D 3.5 and got back into the hobby.

I grew to loathe the d20 system, as it failed to capture the feeling of characterization the games I had played as a child evoked. So I went backward in gaming chronology, seeking out the classics and the hard to find games. RPG.net served as a fine guide to temper my eclectic tastes.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and Call of Cthulhu are the best representations of gaming as I remember it (though moreso Warhammer for its fantasy setting). No harsh grids (unless you prefer them) and neatly categorized data. Imagination, simplicity of play, and focus on characterization are the key concepts. Also, it's a wonderful place for creative houserules (especially the 46 pages of critical hit charts created by a Swedish doctor).

Naturally, it was a shock to see it so violently yanked away at the beginning of this year (2008). Ah, well. I can still play the game!
Favorite Games:
All Flesh Must Be Eaten, Armageddon: the End Times, Call of Cthulhu, C.J. Carella's Witchcraft, Feng Shui, Nobilis, Over the Edge, Talislanta, Unknown Armies, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Dark Heresy.
Favorite Books:
Pretty much every supplement for Call of Cthulhu and Warhammer are constant reads for me. I no longer read fiction as I find the great lot of it to be one-dimensional, unengaging crap. The works of H.P. Lovecraft, J.R.R. Tolkien, Robin McKinley, and my wife are the exception.
Favorite Comics:
Not a big comic fan.
Favorite Movies:
Anything with the epic forces of good vs. the epic forces of evil. Mostly because the "evil" of the real world is intangible and undefinable.
Favorite TV Shows:
Project: Runway, Psych, and Reaper.
Favorite Music:
This may sound odd, but I like "good" music. Which is hard to find. Anything from Beethoven (I'm a broody sort), to the Beatles (George and John especially), to Underworld (awesome electronica). My taste in music is as eclectic as my taste in games.
